Ignite Fitness and Nutrition in Alicetown, Lower Hutt exists because we believe all people have the right to achieve their health and fitness goals.

I opened Ignite Fitness and Nutrition to help people Move Better, Live Longer and Be Happier.

Our focus is on providing a space for people to feel safe enough to achieve their goals.

This is how we grow.

When I joined the gym as a teenager I worked out as most people do now – I pounded the treadmill, worked some machines til I was spent and then hopped back on a treadmill for another half hour.

Luckily, while I was playing rugby at University, one of my friends showed me a different way to train.

We used movements that transferred to the playing field more than the mirror and I quickly became the fittest I’d been in my life.

Experiencing that change in training style altered my life so profoundly that I felt compelled to share it with other players in my team.

I started taking more of a part in the planning of our team strength and conditioning sessions and quickly saw the success both on and off the field.

After a few years of post-university travelling, a friend of mine decided to open a CrossFit gym.

I wanted to know more so I decided it was time to get some more knowledge. I completed a CrossFit certification, a weightlifting certification, and a nutrition certification so I could develop more technical knowledge.

Following this, I moved to Lower Hutt to coach at my friend’s gym. A couple of years later, we decided to trade roles and I purchased CrossFit Hutt Valley in 2015.

In 2020, we re-branded to Ignite Fitness and Nutrition.

We used to solely offer CrossFit group classes but I realized there needs to be much more to our programme if I wanted to help people with more than just their physical development.

So we built Ignite around our pillars of health:

We moved away from the CrossFit programme to our own small group fitness programme capped at 8 people.

We also offer our Legends (50yrs and over) programme, personal training, and nutrition coaching.

To complement this we also offer corporate fitness and nutrition programmes.

Getting started with a new health and fitness program can be intimidating.
